How a guide earns a "Field visited" label

"Field visited" is the only status that means someone from Paddle Greene stood at the launch. Before a guide earns it, a reviewer works through a detailed checklist on site and confirms the things that actually decide a paddle:

• How to find it, where to park, and the carry from the car to the water.
• Launch condition: surface, slope, mud, and room to put in.
• Which amenities, such as restrooms, were actually there on the day.
• Water context: wind exposure, current or tide, motorboat traffic, and visible hazards.
• Honest beginner, family, and paddleboard suitability, with the reasoning written out.
• Photos of the launch and surroundings, or a note explaining why there are none.

A community update never becomes "Field visited" on its own. Reader reports are labeled Community update received, and anything that flags a change or a safety or access concern moves the guide to Needs re-check until we can confirm it in person.

Treat a desk-researched guide as a strong starting point, not a guarantee. Use it to choose where to go and what to expect, then confirm the time-sensitive details yourself before launching: weather, wind, water conditions, access, parking, and managing-agency rules. We never call a place "safe," and the go or no-go decision is always yours.
